Walmart and Sam’s Club announce a change for ReliOn® Insulin Customers.
Beginning in late September 2010, the ReliOn® insulin available at Walmart and Sam’s Club will change from ReliOn® Novolin® to Humulin® ReliOn® (human insulin [rDNA origin]). Both Humulin ReliOn and ReliOn Novolin are human insulins. Walmart and Sam’s Club appreciate that you have trusted ReliOn to help manage your diabetes and are excited to announce that Eli Lilly and Company will now supply ReliOn insulin.

Walmart and Sam’s Club are committed to helping you manage your diabetes healthcare needs by bringing you a comprehensive, value-priced line of diabetes care products. And so we have begun a new relationship with Lilly to make Humulin ReliOn exclusively for Walmart and Sam’s Club to continue to bring you your ReliOn insulin.

How do I store Humulin ReliOn?
There is no refrigeration needed after the first use of Humulin ReliOn. Unused vials of Humulin ReliOn should be stored in a refrigerator, but not in a freezer. For complete storage and handling instructions, please see the Patient Information that comes in the box containing your insulin.

How much insulin does each Humulin ReliOn vial contain?
Each Humulin ReliOn vial contains 10 mL of insulin.

Will I need to change my dose?
Changes in strength, manufacturer, type, species, or method of manufacture may result in the need for a change in dosage. Talk to your doctor if you have questions about your dose.

What do I need to do regarding this change?
You might need a new prescription the next time you are ready for your refill. However as your pharmacists, we are here to help you through this change and will contact your doctor for you, if needed. Just stop by the pharmacy or call us when it is time to refill your prescription. Doctors are also being notified of this change. Remember, any change in insulin should be made cautiously and only under the supervision of a doctor.

The Humulin ReliOn brand of insulin will include the following types of insulin:
• Humulin® N (NPH human insulin [rDNA origin] isophane suspension)
• Humulin® R U-100 (regular insulin human injection, USP [rDNA origin])
• Humulin® 70/30 (70% human insulin isophane suspension, 30% human insulin injection [rDNA origin])
