Where can I buy ReliOn® lancets?
They are available only at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club pharmacies.

Where should I lance my finger?
You should lance your finger more towards the sides of your fingertips, rather than in the middle. The sides of your fingertips have more blood vessels, but not as many nerve endings, so lancing there usually does not hurt as much.

How often should I change lancets?
You should change your lancet each time you test your blood glucose (sugar). Our lancets are designed for single use only and therefore should only be used once. The more you use a lancet, the more it hurts. In addition you can reduce the risk of infection by using a new lancet each time you test.

Is there an expiration date on your lancets?
No. As long as the cap remains securely on the needle, the sterility is maintained.

What gauge lancet is best for me?
Many people have callused skin, therefore a thicker needle is required. You should experiment with different sizes to find the lancet that will provide you with an adequate blood droplet each time you test. Always make sure to use the least depth possible.

Note: Our Thin Lancets are 26-gauge. Our Ultra Thin Lancets are 30-gauge.

Can I get blood from places other than my fingers?
Yes. If you get someone to help you, you can also take it from your earlobe. Don't press too hard to avoid bruising. Newer blood glucose meters use test strips that only require a tiny drop of blood and can be used at alternative sites such as the forearm. Be sure to check the package insert of your test strips to see which sites are appropriate for use with your strips.

How deep should I lance my finger with the lancet?
Lance your finger deep enough to get an ample drop of blood without pressing too much. The depth may vary from finger to finger.

Which lancing device do the lancets fit in?
Our lancets fit into most lancing devices. Compatible lancing devices are listed on the back of the lancet box.

Do your lancets fit into my Softclix® lancing device?
No. The Softclix® device made by Roche only works with Softclix® lancets. With that device, you have no choice but to use Softclix® lancets. If you wish to use our lancets, we recommend that you buy a lancing device that uses standard lancets.

How can I dispose of my used lancets?
Dispose according to local ordinances.
